Governor appoints Heather Jordan as New Workers’ Compensation director

ALBUQUERQUE — Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has appointed Heather Jordan to serve as the director for the Workers’ Compensation Administration (WCA) effective immediately. Jordan brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this critical role. “I am excited to lead the WCA in its mission to serve New Mexico’s workers and employers with dedication and efficiency in my new role.” said Jordan.

Jordan has devoted her career to public service. She worked for the City of Albuquerque, Bernalillo County where she had a combined 20 years at the Metropolitan Detention Center. She started at the WCA in 2015 as the Clerk of the Court, was promoted in 2022 to the Court and Programs Administrator, and then as the Executive Deputy Director in May of 2024. Jordan earned her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice in 2014.

The Workers’ Compensation Administration would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Robert Doucette, who has served as the director of WCA with exceptional leadership and commitment. Under Doucette’s leadership, the WCA made significant strides in enhancing services and improving operational effectiveness. Doucette will remain at the General Services Department as cabinet secretary.
