Purpose
The Advisory Council on Workers' Compensation and Occupational Disease and Disablement is a statutory body created by the New Mexico Workers' Compensation Laws and Regulations. The Governor appoints members of the council, which is comprised of six voting members, three representing workers and three representing employers. The WCA director serves as an ex-officio member. The council reports annually to the Governor and Legislature concerning the state of the workers' compensation system, and to make recommendations regarding rules and regulations. Under law, the role of the council is strictly advisory. While the Council's role is advisory, the Council has authority to appoint members to the panel that approves Independent Medical Examination providers. It otherwise has no authority and cannot make recommendations on individual cases.
Meeting Schedule
The next Advisory Council meeting will be held on December 12th, 2024 at 2:30 PM. The meeting will take place at our Albuquerque office located at 2410 Centre Ave SE.
